There's no doubt about it - less is more.

Paper towels that pack more sheets to the roll, concentrated fabric softeners and detergents with bleach already added are just part of a developing trend in packaging and manufacturing.

"Source reduction," as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency calls it, means manufacturers and marketers are compressing, paring and eliminating materials at the production end to avoid waste at the receiving end.
