The Swiss National Tourist Office, sensitive to American concerns
about the high cost of travel in Europe, is stockpiled with free
information for saving money on lodging, meals and transportation.
One pamphlet, "Inexpensive Hotels, Inns and Pensions and
Switzerland," lists more than 300 properties where a room for two
persons is available in summer for 60 Swiss francs (about $48) or
less, with breakfast and service charges included.
Another brochure features "E & G Hotels," an association of 220
guesthouses similar to bed-and-breakfasts. Yet another, "Country Inn
SHA," covers about 100 places classified as reasonably priced by the
Swiss Hotel Association.
