Hardly a day goes by that Gail Damerow doesn't have a scoop of
ice cream. Living in a rural area in Tennessee, she had her own
source of fresh eggs and cream. What she didn't have was a great
guide to making ice cream.
"All the books I read had five variations on chocolate or
vanilla or a lot of toppings, but they didn't answer my questions on
how to make ice cream," said Damerow, author of Ice Cream! The Whole
Scoop (Glenbridge Publishing Ltd., $24.95).
And if the title is cute, it's also accurate. Along with a
collection of recipes for everything from celery sorbet to soy milk
substitutes for those allergic to dairy products, Damerow answers
