Move over, Greg Norman.
The perennial victim of miracle golf shots on the PGA Tour has
nothing on Kris Monaghan after what happened Sunday at Oak Brook Golf
Club.
Martha Nause, who has won only one tournament in 14 seasons on
the Ladies Professional Golf Association tour, wiped out Monaghan's
four-stroke lead with four holes to play at the first LPGA/Chicago
Sun-Times Shoot-Out.Nause won Chicago's first LPGA tournament in
18 years by holing a 107-yard pitching wedge for eagle on Oak Brook's
530-yard finishing hole.
Then Monaghan, playing in the group behind Nause, left an
eight-foot birdie putt on the lip of the cup and a gallery of 15,200
limp from the excitement.
