Everyone seems to be doing more these days - why not the Tooth
Fairy?
That's right, even the Tooth Fairy has become an "expanded duty"
fairy in recent years, according to Rosemary Wells, a Deerfield
grandmother and Ph.D. who has spent 20 years researching the
importance of the Tooth Fairy in popular culture, the family and the
lives of children.
"There is much more recognition of taking care of teeth. It's
not unusual to see in (recent) books she is now lecturing on dental
hygiene," Wells said. Some children's books even use the Tooth Fairy
to teach moral lessons such as, "The Tooth Fairy does not approve of
fighting," notes Wells.
