PALM BEACH, Fla. So it's over. The dreadful camera people are
leaving and soon - soon! - everyone will have forgotten about that
awful unpleasantness at the Kennedy house.
Not that anyone really cared in the first place. They were
Kennedys, after all, and this girl - well, what can one say about
her? What clubs did she belong to?
When you come right down to it, the whole affair was really
rather . . . ordinary.
The world might have been watching Palm Beach over the past two
weeks while William Kennedy Smith stood trial and was acquitted of
rape charges, but few people here shared the popular fascination. Or
if they did, they wouldn't admit it.
After all, scandals might come and ...
