Article: Oscar-winner Jose Ferrer is dead at 80

MIAMI Jose Ferrer, 80, the stage and screen actor who won an Academy Award in 1950 for his role as Cyrano de Bergerac, died Sunday after a brief illness.

Mr. Ferrer, who made his reputation as a classical actor with his 1946 Broadway triumph in the title role of Cyrano, died at Doctors' Hospital in suburban Coral Gables, said his fourth wife, Stella.

The cause of death was not disclosed.

"I shared the most important part of my life with him, and I will miss him very much," said Rosemary Clooney, who was married to him from 1953 to 1967.
