You never know for sure when you purchase a yearling whether he's
really worth the money. Dance Floor, winner of Saturday's $250,430
Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream Park, was purchased for only
$90,000. His latest purse was $150,258.
If that doesn't make Hammer, the dancer and rap singer, step
quicker and sing louder, nothing in this world can. The Burrell
family is making plans to take Dance Floor to the Kentucky Derby May
2. The only problem is that many other owners and trainers are
planning the same thing.
I've rated thousands of horses for oncoming races and stakes. I
can't knock Dance Floor's easy 4 1/2-length Fountain of Youth
victory, but other than second-place Pistols ...
