Bill Clinton knows what he's doing.
The Arkansas governor, who has been preparing his 1992
presidential campaign for 20 years, has a better grasp of the
nominating process than his rivals.
Clinton, 45, hopes to wrap up the Democratic presidential
nomination on St. Patrick's Day by sweeping the Illinois and
Michigan primaries. How did he put himself in this position?
He was among the organizers of the Super Tuesday regional
primary, which was designed to maximize the chances for the
nomination of a Southern moderate. To build on the momentum of his
anticipated victories in the South, Clinton has spent much of the
last year building a northern political base in Illinois.
