CAIRO, Egypt An Arab League team returned to Cairo today
apparently without reaching agreement with Libya to turn over two
Libyans suspected of bombing a Pan Am airliner in 1988 over
Lockerbie, Scotland.
Arab League Secretary-General Esmat Abdel-Maguid said
consultations with Libya were continuing.
The team went to Tripoli in response to an offer by Libya Monday
to forestall a UN Security Council resolution ordering all air
traffic between Libya and the rest of the world to stop.
The resolution, sponsored by the United States, Britain and
France, was designed to pressure Libya to give up two Libyan security
agents, Lamen Khalifa Fhimah and Abdel Basset Ali Megrahi, for trial
in both ...
