Mayor Daley's closest ally on the gaming commission says he may
recommend a ban on hotel rooms and a mandated admission fee at a
proposed downtown casino complex.
Commission member Thomas Rosenberg said that if a ban on hotel
rooms at the proposed complex of four or more casinos would not hurt
city tax revenues significantly, he could support it.
Rosenberg, who chairs the panel's real estate subcommittee, said
he was concerned about potential competition of casino hotel rooms
with existing hotel space in the city, the potential for luring
"captive" gamblers to spend all their time inside the complex and the
potential prostitution problems.
