Q. I had a traumatic experience the other day, but fortunately,
everything turned out OK. My 2-year-old dog, a female terrier mix,
threw up her dinner. Shortly after, I noticed she was rubbing her
face on the rug and crying. I saw that her entire face was swollen.
Her short coat had raised areas with the hair standing up. It scared
the devil out of me.
I rushed her to my veterinarian, who said not to worry - it was
a food allergy. He gave her an injection, and in half an hour she
looked and acted her normal self. Does this happen often and is it
serious?
