Article: Valproic Acid / Divalproex

What is it? Valproic acid (val-PRO-ic acid), sold under the trade name Depakote, and divalproex (dye-VAL-pro-ex), sold under the trade names Dalpro, Depakene and Myproic Acid, are oral anti-convulsant medications used by themselves or with other drugs to treat epilepsy. Valproic acid also is being tested to treat panic disorder.
