Article: VA's Big Cheese Eats Up Idea of `Big Cheese' Pizza

The director of the VA's canteen service said he had no idea it
was his boss' nickname when he approved the name "The Big Cheese" for
a string of pizza parlors.
But Edward J. Derwinski, the first secretary of Veterans
Affairs, will become the first Cabinet officer whose tenure will be
remembered in this unusual way.
Next month his department will open the first of 40 pizza
parlors in VA hospitals across the country.
It's all the result of a search for new products that the VA's
canteen service can market to VA patients and visitors now that
Derwinski has banned sales of cigarettes at the 172 hospitals run by
the department.
