ROTHBURY, Mich. The "steeplechase" racers were locked arm-in-arm,
running blindfolded along a corral obstacle course that ends with an
attempted jump over a hill of steaming horse manure. That's probably
when I decided this was the most fun I've had at a dude ranch in
quite a while.
Or maybe it was when the head wrangler had us galloping
full-tilt on horseback across an open meadow in a scene straight out
of a Clint Eastwood Western.
Then again, it might have been at the rifle range, when I
plugged three bullseyes in five shots and my wife, Debbie, managed
one sharp shot herself. Our finesse was not totally surprising for a
