Last year Chicago's LPGA tournament was decided by the unexpected
- a final-hole eagle by Wisconsin resident Martha Nause.
Friday's first round of the Sun-Times Challenge wasn't much
different.
Another Wisconsin golfer, Judi Pavon, holed a 4-iron shot from
148 yards for an eagle. It was on the first hole, rather than the
last, but it propelled the only left-handed golfer on the LPGA
circuit to the first-round lead in the $450,000 championship that
ends tomorrow.
Pavon writes and throws with her right hand, but plays golf,
tennis and wields a baseball bat from the left side.
She bettered 70 for the first time in 43 LPGA starts over two
