Talk about a field of screams.
When the topic gets down to lawn mower racing, the easy way out
is to plant awful puns. Those who race are blade runners. It's a
grass-roots movement. That kind of stuff. But that doesn't cut it.
In this case, a picture may be worth a thousand words. Last
week I tooled around on the jet-powered Dixie Chopper, the world's
fastest lawn mower. That's me down there, looking like the
blue-value man. Now is that a depiction of someone who needs a life?
The Dixie Chopper is the pace mower at the STA-BIL National Lawn
Mower Racing Championships at 1 p.m. tomorrow at the Lake County
Fairgrounds, U.S. 45 and Illinois 120 in Grayslake (708-729-7363).
