LINDA LEWETT has been filming dancers in the Washington area for
nearly two decades. Last year, the Fairfax-based filmmaker received a
grant from the National Initiative to Preserve America's Dance
(NIPAD), an organization founded in 1993 to document and preserve the
rich cultural legacy of American dance. The resulting work, "Twenty
Years of Dance Place," screens Sunday at Dance Place in conjunction
with "NIPAD in Your Neighborhood," a touring program that includes
two other NIPAD-funded films, Carmella Vassor's "She Be Dancin': The
Philadanco Experience" and Mitchell Rose's "Modern Daydreams."
