An important and comprehensive book, Sanitary Fairs: A Philatelic
and Historical Study of Civil War Benevolences, has been written by
Alvin Robert Kantor and Marjorie Sered Kantor.
The 304-page book may be one of the most attractive, best
designed and most lavishly illustrated philatelic works ever
produced. The authors are local collectors who have specialized in
this esoteric area for many years and have spared no expense in
producing this book, including full-color illustrations.
The book was professionally designed, and it could qualify as a
beautiful coffee table book if the information were not so absolutely
necessary to understanding these issues.
