Apples . . . pie.

Some things just go together.

For anyone who loves to bake or loves a great dessert, this is apple pie season.

Apple pie can be as simple as apples, sugar and cinnamon in a crust, or it can be a cook's version of the most outrageous apple dessert packed into pastry.

And although we intended to choose one apple pie to highlight in this week's Food section, it was impossible. There's no single version for everyone, so there's no need to share only one recipe.
