Frank M. Spatz, 80, a Northwest Side contractor who headed the
Professional Remodelers Association, died Saturday in Rush North
Shore Hospital, Skokie.
He owned and operated Ashland Building Improvement, a general
contracting company at 5065 N. Lincoln, which served the residential,
commercial and industrial community for 33 years. In 1987, the
Skokie resident closed the business and retired, though he remained
active in his son's architectural and construction firm, Andrew J.
Spatz/Associates.
Among the elder Mr. Spatz's many projects were renovation work on
the Conrad Hilton Hotel and the installation of Dove Bar
International's first two production facilities in Burr Ridge.
