WSCR-AM (820) is so worried about losing Bears coach Mike Ditka's weekly radio show that it is allowing Ditka to set station policy.

During discussions among Ditka, co-host Mike Pyle and The Score's management last week, Ditka expressed displeasure with the handling of this season's show and reiterated he doesn't plan to do the show next season, even though he is under contract for 1993.

Ditka's main gripe concerned The Score's distribution of sound bites to local and national media. He is not bothered by the call-in format, Pyle said.

No, he's bothered by those whimsical, wacky sound bites that define His Coachness, such as "jerkos," "Who you crappin'?" and "I'll whip your ass."
