We always knew the majority of bowl games didn't mean anything.
Now, it's confirmed.
There are 18 bowls this season, and only one matters, the
Sugar, where No. 1 Miami faces No. 2 Alabama. The rest are just
Poulan Weed Eater Thrifty Car Rental Outback Steakhouse Weiser Lock
Dentu-Creme Bowls. (Silly thing is, only the last one is made up.)
For this, we can thank the bowl alliance, college football's
version of OPEC. A bunch of conferences and Notre Dame banded
together with some of the bowls and created a system that looks like
a tax form. It was an attempt to stage a championship game, and this
year it worked. Sort of. No. 1 is playing No. 2, but not
everybody's sure this really ...
