SAN DIEGO The lightning bolt is back, and San Diego's Marion
Butts proved that electricity and water do mix.
Butts, who fumbled on the Kansas City 9-yard line on the game's
fifth play, scored on a career-best 54-yard run up the middle with
5:53 left in the third quarter to lead the Chargers to 17-0
first-round playoff victory on a rainy Saturday.
"The only thing we needed was a little spark and I was glad I
was able to apply that," Butts said.
The AFC West champion Chargers (12-5) play the AFC East champion
Dolphins next Sunday at Miami. San Diego, under rookie coach Bobby
Ross, won its eighth consecutive game since a 16-14 loss at Kansas
City on Nov. 8.
