Tom "Fly Jock" Joyner's first crack at the bash thrown in his honor by WGCI-FM (107.5) last week sums up why he has been the heartbeat of black Chicago radio.

"If the party is good, I might want to do it another eight years just to get another party," said Joyner, when asked whether he was really going to retire at the end of the year.

Joyner, 43, has always been the man who could get folks to forget just how tough things really are and to have some fun.
