The wonderful cleaning properties of baking soda have often been
extolled in this column. Now as the awesome task of spring cleaning
faces every homemaker, allow me to remind you that baking soda and
other non-caustic products such as white household vinegar are great
alternatives to caustic cleaners that are not kind to our environment
and are sometimes harmful to humans.
Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) will clean and deodorize the
inside of your refrigerator, your stove, your toaster oven and your
microwave. Just sprinkle the baking soda on a damp sponge and rub
onto the surface. Rinse and wipe dry with a cloth. Use it to
