Article: Franzen Challenges Botti in Du Page

In a suburban power struggle, RTA Chairman Gayle M. Franzen has decided to challenge Du Page County Board Chairman Aldo E. Botti in the 1994 Republican primary.

Franzen, a longtime associate of former Gov. James R. Thompson, will declare his candidacy after the adjournment of the current legislative session. Illinois Senate President James "Pate" Philip (R-Wood Dale), chairman of the Du Page Republican organization, is supporting Franzen over Botti, who is among Philip's more outspoken critics.
