The right wine glass can greatly enhance your wine-drinking
pleasure. The wrong glass, no matter how beautiful, is merely a
container, no more capable of translating a wine's qualities from
bottle to palate than a glass jar.
I sometimes cringe when I see the glasses engaged couples
register for at department stores. They are so often very expensive
Irish or French lead crystal, pretty but impractical on many counts.
If struggling newlyweds or their guests break a glass, replacing it
will cost dearly.
The wrong glass also can distort the character of even the most
expensive Cab. Moreover, drinking from "high-octane leaded" crystal
on a daily basis may be unhealthful, possibly leaching ...
