Article: Security Beefed Up for Jordan, Palmer in Pro-Am

Pairing Michael Jordan and Arnold Palmer in tomorrow's final pro-am has created a problem for Brian Fitzgerald, the Ameritech Senior Open tournament director.

"Keeping Michael well-protected presents an extra security challenge," Fitzgerald said Tuesday.

"We've talked with everyone from the FBI down to local police. Michael brings a different breed of folks, children who might not understand this game. They might run on the fairways, and we don't want anyone to get hurt."

Fitzgerald said last year's ASO, which lured Palmer for the first time, drew 75,000 for the week. He expects nearly 20,000 at Stonebridge tomorrow for the dream pairing.
