Article: Skip Caffeine, Pregnant Women Told

If those long, tiring days of pregnancy aren't hard enough, doctors may soon be issuing stricter warnings against that last vestige of pep: caffeine.

Gone are the glasses of wine and cigarettes. And the latest study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, supports the contention that as few as two cups of coffee a day - or the equivalent found in cola, tea and chocolate - increases the chance of a miscarriage.

Other studies have linked caffeine to growth retardation in human and animal fetuses.
