She has weathered the storm.

Aurelia Pucinski, Cook County Circuit Court clerk, has not been damaged politically by controversial remarks she uttered early in her campaign to win the Democratic primary for Cook County Board president.

In a survey of 600 likely Democratic primary voters taken Jan. 4-6, Pucinski is holding to a wide lead over rivals Maria Pappas and John Stroger. But Pappas is displaying appeal and preventing Pucinski from amassing an insurmountable lead.

Conducted for Pucinski by McKeon & Associates of Joliet, the suvery shows Pucinski with support of 34.5 percent of likely voters to 20.8 percent for Pappas, and 15.7 percent for Stroger. More than a quarter of those ...
