Article: Study Finds Minimal Cancer Risk From Use of Hair Dye

Women who use permanent black hair dyes for at least 20 years are at increased risk of dying of two very rare types of cancer, a new study has found.

But no other cancers were found to be associated with use of any other permanent hair dyes. And since less than 1 percent of hair-dye users have used black hair dye for more than 20 years, the study was described as reassuring by the authors.

In contrast, a statement released by the National Cancer Institute emphasized that other recent reports have found a stronger link between hair dyes and cancer risk.
