NEW YORK "I don't feel I've really been tested yet," Wesley
Snipes says casually.
The claim might startle the actor's admirers. Since exploding
into major stardom a couple of years ago, Snipes is one film actor
who seems to have bridged genres, races and artistic challenges
through sheer force of talent.
The supercharged 31-year-old has headlined action extravaganzas
including "Passenger 57," "Demolition Man" and "Rising Sun." He's
alternated these pop showpieces with complex character work in
"Jungle Fever," "The Waterdance" and the new gangster tragedy "Sugar
Hill," which opens today at local theaters.
