Fans believe they're the most important rock group of the '90s.
Detractors say they're alternative/punk poseurs. But everyone agrees
on one thing:
Pearl Jam doesn't operate like any other band of its stature.
The Seattle quintet has sold 3.5 million copies of its second
album, "Vs." But the group hasn't made a video or released a single,
and band members have done only a handful of interviews.
Epic Records is still pushing the band to promote "Vs.,"
convinced that the album could be even bigger. But Pearl Jam is
finishing work on its third album, and it plans to release that disc
in the near ...
