"We want Carmel. We want Carmel."
That was the chant of the Brother Rice crowd Wednesday night and
it was just what Crusaders forward Jim Sexton was thinking when he
scored 10 of his game-high 27 points in the final two minutes as
Brother Rice fended off a final rally by Thornridge for an 80-70
victory in the semifinals of the Eisenhower Sectional.
The win, Brother Rice's 12th in a row, propelled the Crusaders
(25-3) into a championship game showdown Friday night against
Catholic League rival Mount Carmel. It's a game both teams have been
looking to since Brother Rice beat the Caravan at Mount Carmel in
January.
