It felt like Christmas again when we reached into the freezer
and found the unlabeled package.
Like good children, we set our impatience aside while we waited
for the mystery parcel to defrost in the refrigerator, safe on a
stainless-steel pie pan to catch any would-be drips. Two days it
took, but in the end it was thawed.
"Look, it's ham!" said the Co-Diner. "Oh, good! Sandwiches!
Ham and scalloped potatoes! Oh, good, oh, good!"
