OKLAHOMA CITY When it comes to talking about Kiwane Garris and
Jerry Hester, Deon Thomas sounds a little restless.
Seems the two freshmen didn't pass the ball once into the post -
also known as Thomas - during the first half of Illinois' 87-77 loss
to Purdue Sunday. Thomas scored 20 of his 22 points in the second
half, after Garris and Hester had been read Thomas' rights.
"Not one time," said an incredulous coach Lou Henson. "As young
as we are, sometimes I'm amazed we accomplish anything at all."
Young isn't the issue to Thomas, though. Knowing tonight's
NCAA opener vs. Georgetown could be his last game at Illinois, the
