Article: Crayons Recalled For Lead

WASHINGTON The Consumer Product Safety Commission today recalled 11 brands of crayons imported from China - including one brand sold by the Toys `R' Us chain - because they contain lead.

"Throw these crayons in the trash or take them back to the store for a refund," said Ann Brown, chairman of the commission.

The commission said three of the brands "contain enough lead to present a lead poisoning hazard to young children who might eat or chew on the crayons."

They are "121 Jumbo Crayons," distributed by Concord Enterprises of Los Angeles; "Safe 48 Non-Toxic I'm a Toys `R' Us Kid! Crayons," distributed by that firm, and "12 Crayons, Glory" and "18 Crayons That Paint," distributed by ...
