WFLD-Channel 32, 7 to 7:30 tonight
In the 22 minutes of its premiere, Fox's "South Central" touches
on more issues - teenage pregnancy, urban unemployment, single
mothers, drug traffic, gangs and street crime - than "Meet the Press"
tackles in a
month. This is, after all, a series that begins with a blast of
dark humor as a teenage girl jokes that "nothing gets me going like
the scent of gunpowder in the morning."
It's easy to see why the series, which replaces the failed
"Monty" at 7 tonight on WFLD-Channel 32, has been hailed by one
critic as a "bold, realistic sitcom about inner-city life that breaks
the mold of black comedies."
