Compared with other table games, roulette proceeds at a stately,
almost majestic pace.
Far from the 100 or more rolls an hour expected at a craps table
or even the 60 hands an hour played at a busy blackjack table, the
roulette wheel spins only 30-to-45 times each hour. The players need
time to choose among the dozens of wagering possibilities, then the
wheel is spun and a ball sent whirling in the opposite direction,
until the ball finally settles into one of 38 numbered slots on the
wheel.
The game is a favorite among Europeans, and even though the
