John Lehodey was 11 years old on June 6, 1944.
And while the bombing was 40 miles away from his hometown of
Avranches, the French boy was aware that the Allies had landed. He
listened to a radio hidden by his stepfather.
It took two more months before Avranches was liberated, but
Lehodey will never forget the day.
