Since the advent of the automatic dishwasher, the art of washing
dishes by hand has almost disappeared. But there are certain items
that should not go into the dishwasher. Fine china, crystal and
silver should be washed by hand. Even for those who own a dishwasher
it often is more expedient to wash a few dishes by hand rather than
run the machine with a small load. Let's review the rules of proper
dishwashing by hand.
Use a plastic or rubber scraper to remove food from dishes.
Rinse each dish under the hot water tap and then stack them. Use the
cold water tap for dishes and glasses that contained egg or milk.
Prepare dishpan with hot water and dishwasher detergent. If you
