With the cancellation of Joan Rivers' home shopping/talk show on
Wednesday, Chicago-based Tribune Entertainment Co. has given new
meaning to the phrase "shop till you drop."
Tribune Entertainment and its partners, QVC and Regal
Communications, have pulled the plug on Rivers' "Can We Shop?" after
only six months in national syndication. Production ends Friday,
with the final show airing on July 15.
"Can We Shop?" replaced Rivers' old talk show, which aired for
five years.
After the recent cancellations of syndicated talkers Bertice
Berry and Vicki Lawrence, the Rivers decision was attributed to low
ratings and revenues. The show grossed $14 million in sales, with $2
