Article: Dorothy Collins, `Hit Parade' Singer

WATERVLIET, N.Y. Dorothy Collins, who rose to fame singing "Be happy, go Lucky" for Lucky Strike cigarettes on television's "Your Hit Parade" and later set up gags on "Candid Camera," has died at 67.

Ms. Collins, who had retired in 1980, died at her daughter's house Thursday. Her former husband, Ron Holgate, said she apparently suffered a heart attack.

Ms. Collins sang on the radio with big bands as a teenager. In the 1950s, she landed a job selling Lucky Strike cigarettes on "Your Hit Parade."

Placed in the middle of the Lucky Strike bull's-eye, she would sing the jingle "Be happy, go Lucky." She later sang weekly top hits on the show and became one of its stars.
