The normal course for summer concert touring: Release an album,
and hit the road.
But with so many rockers of a certain age hitting a circuit
fueled by nostalgia, some are playing their usual greatest-hits
repertoire while promoting a higher-ticket recorded item - the boxed
set.
Usually reserved for Christmas release, some boxed sets are
emerging this summer to benefit from the prime touring season.
The Steve Miller Band is going so far as to call its summer
jaunt "The Box Set Tour."
This does not mean everybody goes home with the lavishly
packaged 54-page booklet and three discs.
Already, though, "Steve Miller Box Set" (Capitol) is getting
some criticism for providing very little ...
