For its residents, Rogers Park approaches the land of milk and
honey: spacious housing on or near the lakefront, a culturally
diverse and eclectic neighborhood and ample avenues to downtown
Chicago.
The local housing market has emerged from a decade of neglect.
Renovation is the watchword as developers buy up apartment buildings
for conversion into upscale condominiums, and community action groups
restore old apartment buildings for affordable housing.
"A northward migration that always has tended to bring an influx
of new residents into Rogers Park seemed to take on new momentum when
