As usual, Lyric Opera and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra fill
only part of Chicago's busy concert schedule.
From concerts at the University of Chicago's Mandel Hall to the
Chamber Music Society of the North Shore's 10th anniversary season,
the area's concert halls, theaters and churches will be filled with
music. Following are a few highlights.
An impressive lineup of orchestras will be visiting Orchestra
Hall as part of the "Orchestra Hall Presents" (formerly Allied Arts)
series. On Nov. 11, Leonard Slatkin, recently appointed music
director of the National Symphony, conducts the St. Louis Symphony,
