The Washington Redskins, barring any last-minute snags, plan to
name Jimmy Raye their offensive coordinator today.
Redskins Coach Marty Schottenheimer interviewed Raye, the Kansas
City Chiefs' offensive coordinator for the past three seasons,
yesterday. Schottenheimer said he was likely to hire Raye, 54, who
coached for him for seven seasons in Kansas City.
"By [today], we'll have some idea of what we're going to do,"
Schottenheimer said. "We had a very good discussion. . . . He was
scheduled to go home [yesterday], and he's still here. . . . It's
always easier to close the deal when you're looking someone in the
eye."
The Redskins' next priority will be to find an offensive line
coach, ...
