Article: Pope's Book Is Fast Seller; More Print Runs in Works

PARIS Some 150,000 copies of Pope John Paul II's book, "Crossing the Threshold of Hope," sold out in Germany in the space of 24 hours, and the French publishers announced Friday their print run would increase to 280,000 due to "colossal demand."

Sales have been brisk in Spain and Italy, while a chaotic supply system in Warsaw had Poles scrambling desperately to secure the rare copies that found their way on to the official market, and unofficial traders in the pontiff's work were expected to make a killing.
