Wide-eyed kids might dream of going to Hollywood, to join the
movie business.
But don't tell that to Carol Burnett. She started there and
worked her way down.
There she was, she says, a teenage failure. ``At 65 cents an
hour, I was drummed out of the usherette corps.''
Burnett recalled that while preparing her special, ``Men, Movies
and Carol,'' which will air at 9 p.m. Monday on WBBM-Channel 2.
Yes, she has loved movies. Growing up with alcoholic parents,
she'd head to the theater with her grandmother.
And yes, she has loved men.
Offscreen, Burnett once had an unrequited love for young Tommy
Tracy. ``I'd go around writing `Carol Tracy' on my notebook. I'd
